Changelog

Updated 2026-10-04

Every notable change to the Digital Footprint API, newest first. New capabilities ship on v2; v1 is frozen and keeps answering exactly as it always has.

  1. A clearer phone picture and sharper answers

    • New on v2: phone.exposureRisk (none, low, high) and phone.exposureDetails flag numbers known to be shared publicly, where others can read the messages sent to them. null means not checked - never read it as clean.
    • New on v2: phone.reserved and footprint.phoneReserved flag fictional and example numbers.
    • New default risk rule: phone.reserved.
    • email.deliverable answers false more often when an address cannot receive mail, and email.domain.registered answers false for domains that do not exist.
    • More accurate platform results for addresses that cannot receive mail, and a few checks that could not answer reliably were retired.
  2. Reliability

    • Reliability improvements under heavy load.
  3. Per-platform phone pricing, two-factor auth and a richer lookup view

    • Phone footprint is priced per platform actually checked, with a bundle discount and a public rate card at /pricing/rates.
    • email.age: how old an address is, from the earliest dated evidence it existed.
    • Breach records inside the email module.
    • Two-factor authentication (TOTP) for dashboard accounts.
    • Lookup detail page in the dashboard, with export and "run again".
    • Pay-as-you-go accounts can add a teammate, and a cost estimator shows what a month of lookups would cost.
    • query is auto-detected on v2 (email, phone, IP address or username).
  4. Early answers, faster lookups and risk rules you own

    • Early answer (v2, opt-in): answer as soon as the first real profiles arrive, then complete the same lookup in the background. meta.footprintComplete says which you got.
    • Email and phone streams are live.
    • Faster lookups across the board, with the same answers.
    • Risk scoring is simpler to reason about: the score adds up the signals that fired, up to 100.
    • Rules per account: tune any default rule or build your own custom rules.
    • Overage is billed on the renewal invoice.
  5. API v2

    • v2 at /v2/lookup (plus batch, stream and GET), /v2/email, /v2/phone, /v2/ip and /v2/platforms.
    • Send an email and a phone together: each gets its own footprint sweep, and every result says which identity it came from.
    • Email, phone and IP modules each carry their own risk, and a root risk weighs them.
    • Richer modules: domain registration, mail setup, role accounts and breach summaries for email; formats and network codes for phone; residential-proxy and mobile flags for IP.
    • The lookup.completed webhook carries the v2 shape.
    • v1 is frozen and answers exactly as it did before. See the migration guide.
  6. Phone lookups by plan

    • Phone footprint coverage now depends on your plan: the free plan covers WhatsApp, paid plans cover every supported platform.
  7. Streaming instant lookups

    • Instant lookups now stream, and repeat lookups come back more complete.
  8. Choose your platforms, and a public status page

    • Name the platforms to check in a request, and get the hits back as a list.
    • A public status page at /status.
    • Phone footprint across messaging and social platforms.
    • Icons for 1,100+ platforms, and pasted phone numbers are cleaned up before checking.
  9. Plans and wallet

    • Plans with a pay-as-you-go wallet, API keys that keep working across plan changes, and updates that ship without downtime.

Building against an older integration? The v1 reference stays online.
